The LACS Centre

The LACS Centre operates out of Scotland. Our base is in the Scottish Borders, about 30 kilometers south of Edinburgh.

LACS stands for "Language and Communication Skills" which reflects our origins in developing materials and delivering courses in work-related language learning. These days, we develop computer-based solutions and not textbooks, and not just in the field of language learning.

For a lot of our work, we use the Revolution software development environment from Runtime Revolution. We find this a stable and flexible tool that allows for the fast development of software solutions. We have been using Revolution and its predecessor Metacard for over ten years. For fast application development and cross-platform delivery, we think it's hard to beat.

When a browser-based solution is demanded, we use Adobe's Flex. This provides the power and flexibility to produce versatile solutions.
